Section 18 of the Emergency Management Act
requires the SEMC to arrange for the preparation of EM plans as the SEMC
considers necessary. These must be consistent with State EM Policy.
The State EM Plan, Westplans,
Support Plans and Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA) support the EM
arrangements for the State.
The WA EM Plans align with
the National EM Plans where applicable.
This State EM Plan is consistent with State EM legislation and the State EM Policy.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) provides advice and support to Hazard Management Agencies (HMAs) and emergency management agencies in the preparation of Hazard Specific Plans (Westplans).
There is a range of support functions and services that are not hazard specific but support EM arrangements across all-hazards, for example, emergency public information, welfare and health support. These services may be required regardless of the type of hazard that occurs.
These Australian Government plans provide an overview of how National, State, Territory and local governments collectively approach the management of emergencies, including catastrophic emergencies. At the State level, the SEC is responsible for liaising with Emergency Management Australia during an emergency.
