The OEM's operational corporate support function is provided by the Business Services section. The team is responsible for human resources and financial management, as well as the establishment of strategies and systems to support and assist with the achievement of the SEMC's objectives. The team also undertakes duties relating to grant management and distribution.
The Business Services team promotes a shared vision to assist with the development and implementation of both strategic and business plans to ensure the OEM's short and long term business service needs are identified and met.
The Business Services team manages State and Federal funding programs including the Natural Disaster Resilience Program (NDRP) and All West Australians Reducing Emergencies (AWARE) scheme. The team also works with agencies to deliver projects that mitigate against hazards and enhance the capability of the community in WA. To ensure sound accounting principles are integrated within the OEM, the Business Services section liaises with both State and Commonwealth departments to financially manage the agency. Each year the OEM works with the Department of Treasury to reconcile funds and deliver on budget commitments.
The Business Services section develops and monitors accounting and control policies, practices and systems to align with the OEM's Management Plan and Treasury requirements, and ensures compliancy with government, statutory and regulatory requirements.
